Records > Dazzling Stranger: The Bert Jansch Anthology
2000 •
Compilation / LP / Solo
Dazzling Stranger was the first Bert Jansch compilation that drew on material recorded for and owned by more than one label. Castle Music licensed from several rights holders to make this the most definitive Jansch compilation available.
Tracks are drawn from 18 of the 21 Jansch albums up to Crimson Moon, plus three Pentangle tracks and two from the Loren Auerbach album Playing The Game (including the Jansch song 'Is It Real?', which was unavailable in its original form due to problems locating the rights-holders to Heartbreak).
The two Jansch albums not sampled were Leather Launderette and the classic Avocet, records whose the ownership was in question when Dazzling Stranger was compiled.
